INTERESTED IN MONTGOMERY, ALABAMA?
CHECK OUT THE FOLLOWING LINKS TO SITES DESCRIBED IN
DIXIE NOIR:

EL REY BURRITO LOUNGE:
The best bar in the Monkey. So good it had to be the setting of a noir novel. Check them out on Facebook. Take a seat in the Wayne Greenhaw Memorial Chair. Noveau Mexican cuisine, funky atmos, strong margaritas. Happy hour at 4. RIP Bubbles, but you can still see him if you go across the street to Bud's. Just come back to the El. Or we'll come fetch you.

SCOTT AND ZELDA FITZGERALD MUSEUM:
They met here. A house they lived in is open to the public. Parts of Tender Is the Night and Save Me the Waltz were written here. There's an intersection here where Zelda Road meets F. Scott Dr. That's some civic respect.

DEXTER AVENUE KING MEMORIAL BAPTIST CHURCH:
The symbolic center of the Civil Rights Movement. A very humbling place to visit.

THE FIRST WHITE HOUSE OF THE CONFEDERACY:
You only think your city is noir. Wait until you've tried to live with the Gordian knot of being known as both the Cradle of the Confederacy AND the birthplace of the Civil Rights Movement. This joint is only one mind-bending block from the Dexter Avenue King Memorial Church. You know what sent the Rebs packing north to Richmond after a measly six months in the Monkey? Bedbugs. Seriously.

MONTGOMERY BISCUITS BASEBALL STADIUM:
Do you like minor-league baseball? Well, we could care less, but we set a big scene anyway here. Mainly because we appreciate what the Biscuits brought to Montgomery: draft beer. No joke. It was illegal here until the stadium opened up. So thanks, Abner Doubleday, for baseball.

MONTGOMERY MARINA:
This joint has had more owners over the years than there have been Allman Brothers. Or Doobie Brothers. We still like it, mainly because it's the one place in town with a breeze on a 104-degree July day.

SOUTHEASTERN LITERARY TOURISM INITIATIVE:
Okay, so this website isn't actually in the book. But our friend Patrick Brian Miller interviewed us for his website, and it's his interview that landed in USA Today. It's a cool idea and we're honored to be part of it. Brian also wrote a novel, Blind Fate, that's a fave of ours. Check it out.

THE CHICK IN THE PICTURES: Yes, you saw her playing the character "Red" in the USA Today pic. Kirk's wife, Diane, took the picture. You can check out other samples of the photo shoot on this Photobucket  page.
